Job Description – Loan Processor II

The Company 

Harvest Small Business Finance, LLC, a California limited liability company, was created to originate and service loans backed by owner-occupied, multi-purpose real estate, in accordance with the Small Business Administration’s 7(a) loan program.  The Company seeks to be a significant originator of small balance commercial loans in a number of major markets throughout the United States.  Harvest is committed to serving borrowers in underserved markets and is dedicated to helping our customers maintain and create jobs in their respective communities. 

Position Summary 
The Loan Processor II will provide support to the Loan Administration team(s) and Loan Processing Manager as needed.

Location 
Laguna Hills, CA 

Essential Job Functions
  • Review the Credit Approval Memorandum and Commitment Letter conditions and ensure all are satisfied prior to closing;
  • Review Title Reports, Preliminary Report or Title Commitment and all underlying documents that comprise the exceptions to title coverage and the plotted easements to determine their acceptability and to address and clear any discrepancies or title defects;
  • Review Entity documents for all Obligors of the loan;
  • Generate the Items Needed List for closing, review and approve or decline items as received;
  • Prepare and complete File Documentation Checklist; 
  • Prepare Closing Documents, SBA Forms and Closing Instructions;
  • Coordinate with Escrow, Title, Closing Attorney and/or BDO, Buyer/Borrower, Sales Administrator in closing transactions;
  • Reconcile Borrower’s Injection / Borrower’s Contribution prior to closing;
  • Self-Audit the entire file for accuracy and completeness; 
  • Attend Loan Closing training courses to keep abreast with SBA guidelines and Internal Policies and Procedures;
  • Actively engage in training loan processors;
  • Other duties or projects as directed by the Loan Processing Manager;

Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Diplomacy in dealing with internal staff and external parties
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization skills
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to take direction and work with little supervision
  • Highly motivated

Education / Experience
  • Four-year college degree preferred, or
  • 2 years of full-time work experience in commercial real estate lending

Work Schedule
  • Salaried exempt position
  • Normal hours are 8:30 – 5:30 Monday through Friday, with an hour for lunch
  • 10 days of vacation per year plus company holidays

Jay Bennett is an experienced, social impact focused, business development professional with a demonstrated track record of sourcing, structuring and closing commercial loan transactions, utilizing tax incentives and government guaranteed loans, including the SBA 7(a) and 504 programs.  As a commercial loan specialist, Jay is passionate about working with business owners, investors and referral sources to craft custom financing solutions based on each individual client’s needs.  Jay understands that every loan request is unique.  He takes the time to understand each situation, offers attractive loan options, and excels at guiding client’s through the loan process step by step.  

Prior to moving back to his hometown of Los Angeles, Jay worked as a Vice President for Advantage Capital, a social impact focused private equity fund.  While at Advantage, Jay deployed several million dollars in New Market Tax Credit funded government guaranteed loans to economically distressed communities throughout the country.  

Jay firmly believes that out of the box thinking, transparent communication and sound financial analysis are the keys to assisting entrepreneurs with their capital needs.  Jay is excited to team up with Harvest and provide needed capital to entrepreneurs who are often overlooked by traditional banking institutions.​

Melissa Green is a veteran of the New York City real estate scene and has worked for a variety of financial institutions since graduating from Vassar College. She has specialized in commercial real estate finance for most of her career, but has also been active in healthcare, general commercial and small business lending. Melissa holds a Master’s degree from NYU.

Melissa is a native New Yorker, and lives in Manhattan with her husband and two rescue dogs. She is a founder of LaMano Pottery (a small woman-owned business) and teaches real estate courses at both NYU and Fordham University.​
